Many corporations and small businesses are using massage therapists on-site for their employees.
These are stressful times and a time when businesses, no matter how small or large, can benefit from an on-site massage program. Just 15 minutes of massage can have lasting physical and psychological benefits.
Focusing on the wellness of employees has been shown to pay off; a number of articles have focused on corporate wellness programs involving on-site massage. Crain's Chicago Business (Feb. 1999), for example, state that on-site massage reduces stress, improves alertness as well as performance and productivity. They point out that is less expensive than other benefits but more than just a low-cost office perk and greatly appreciated.
Similarly HR Magazine (Oct. 1998) wrote that employees receiving on-site massage in their work environment experience less stress, are consequently more productive and less likely to take unplanned time off work. In the long term addressing employees' wellness can save on expensive medical expenses down the road. Both employees and employers benefit.
On-site massage:
Increases the ability to manage job related stress
Reduces anxiety and fatigue
Reduces muscle tension and pain
Improves ability to concentrate
Improves morale and job satisfaction, thereby decreasing employee turnover
